Senior season is just getting started, and it looks like we are going to have a very full calendar once again.

Seniors, be sure to book early so you have more choice in session dates, times and locations. Last year, we had a very long waiting list and, ultimately, had to turn away a number of seniors.

To book your sesson, simply call our studio at 303-678-1335 or complete our online form on our website: www.balsmanphotography.com/contact.htm.

We look forward to seeing YOU in front of our cameras very soon!

Due to some exciting new transitions in our studio and the high demand for our photography classes, we have decided to change the format of our photography classes so that more people can participate and so that we have a facility large enough to accommodate everyone. We receive dozens of phone calls and emails every week inquiring about our photography classes. All information, updates and registration information will be posted here in the blog. Please be sure to visit the blog often, as we simply cannot respond to every inquiry by phone and email.

Our photography classes will now be held on Saturdays and will be conducted in a workshop format. Each participant will receive both lecture and hands-on, in-the-field instruction. We will also be offering both beginner and advanced courses so that every interested person can participate, regardless of skill level. We will book a conference room here in Longmont for the lecture part and also for the Photoshop courses. The exact location will be determined closer to the start of the classes. The field work will be scheduled for various locations throughout Colorado.

Course topics will include:

Beginning Photography Techniques

Advanced Photography

Outdoor Portrait Photography

Beginning Photoshop

Advanced Photoshop

Landscape and Nature Photography

Wildlife Photography

Children’s Portrait Photography

High School Senior Photography

And many, many more.

Due to our busy senior portrait schedule, we will begin these new classes in the fall. The exact dates and times will be posted here in the blog. Though we have been offering these classes free of charge, we simply cannot continue to do so due to the high costs of renting a conference room, production of class materials and considerable time involved. The cost for each class will be $200 per person or $300 per couple. A portion of the proceeds from every class will be donated to the Boulder County Community Food Share.

We will begin taking reservations in early fall. Be sure to watch for details posted here in the blog.

We are very excited about the new class format and want to thank our past students for their input.

We’ll see all you shutterbugs in the fall!

This was our last senior session for 2009. What a year it has been working with so many awesome and interesting seniors. We had a great time photographing this young man, who happens to be one of the nicest we’ve ever worked with. He also happens to be the Drum Major for Skyline High School. We thought we’d share just a few of his photos. These are going to look fantastic on our metallic paper!

I am always a bit sad when babies in our portrait program turn 1 year old. That means that I won’t see them again for a while. But, we always have fun when we shoot these sessions. This little fellow decided to share some birthday cake with us. He was such a dainty eater, too. Usually, we end up with cake absolutely everywhere. In this case, this little guy’s clothing ended up with the lion’s share of the cake!

I had a lot of fun working with these two gentlemen yesterday. I really enjoy getting to know the seniors I photograph. I am always amazed at how witty, imaginative and bright they are. Only a few more sessions left for 2009 seniors. Next up, 2010.

Several days ago, we lost a beloved family member – our sheltie “Woody.” Woody was a special part of our family for 14 years. In his honor, we are offering 50% off any pet portrait session booked during the month of April (the session can take place at any time). For more details or to book your session with your best friend, call our studio: 303-678-1335.

Ok, have I mentioned lately how I have the coolest job in the world? I love working with kids. We have so much fun playing games, laughing, acting silly and just being ourselves. Plus, I get to play with toys and make funny faces and silly sounds and jump around and … Well, you get the picture :)
